Fun in the Sun

I hope everyone is having a relaxing and blissful weekend! This past month has been filled with family get-togethers, pool parties, wedding festivities (more on that later…), and preparations for my big trip to Asia this summer. With all of that going on, I’ve been spending way too much time in the sun and my eczema usually flares up around this time of the year. I’ve talked about the products that I normally use to combat dryness before but lately my skin has been in desperate need for some intense hydration. Luckily for me, L’Occitane recently came out with a new collection that is meant to revive dry skin. Unlike most moisturizers, the water-based Aqua Réotier line is fortified with calcium and helps create multiple layers of hydration.

The collection comes with a gentle cleanser, a moisture prep essence, two types of moisturizers (gel and cream), and an all-purpose mist. Compared to the Cetaphil one, I find the that Aqua Réotier cleanser is better at removing residue makeup, especially when paired with my beloved Clarisonic. I’ve never used a prep essence before so I was really curious to try it. It is describes as a pre-moisturizer and its purpose is to give your skin a first layer of moisture to help reinforce the hydrating properties of your moisturizer. I only use this product at night, and follow-up with the Ultra Thirst-Quenching Cream, and I’ve noticed that my skin is still dewy in the morning and feels like I just applied moisturizer. In the mornings, I skip the prep essence and only use a very thin layer of the Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel before applying my makeup.

I keep the Fresh Moisturizing Mist in my purse and will use it several times throughout the day. It doesn’t make my makeup smear and has the same refreshing scent as everything else in the collection. If you enjoy the Mario Badescu Facial Sprays then you will love this one!

My favorite products from this collection are the prep essense, moisturizing mist and the cream (I definitely prefer it over the oil-free gel formula). Like I’ve mentioned in previous posts, all of L’Occitane products are intensely nourishing and hypoallergenic (they never break me out), and I really have noticed a difference in the texture of my skin.
